Treetop Lodge win acclaim at World Travel Awards

01 December 2009

This luxury eco-retreat has been the recipient of multiple tourism awards since its opening in 2007, but this year has beaten out the competition in the prestigious 16th World Travel Awards (known among travel professionals as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’) in the entire Australasia area to win the top place in Australasia’s Responsible Tourism Award, as well as capturing the trophy for New Zealand’s Leading Luxury Lodge.

World Travel Awards founder and President, Graham Cooke, says: “ Today’s winners have not only been recognised as the best in the region, but they have proved themselves to be the best in the world and the number one choice of professionals and consumers alike”.

Treetops Lodge, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, offers luxury accommodation in a lush indigenous forest setting. Its dedication to eco-friendly design and operation make it a leader in responsible tourism worldwide. The lodge was designed to complement its setting amongst 2,500 acres of native forest in the central thermal region of New Zealand, providing a luxury retreat as well as a variety of exclusive wilderness experiences.

John Sax, owner of Treetops Lodge, notes that “with the Lodge winning Australasia’s Responsible Tourism Award, combined with the title of New Zealand’s Leading Luxury Lodge, we have gone on to prove once again that eco-friendly does not mean compromising luxury ”.
